Well, OK, the last visit trying that Sunday Fried Chicken special dinner was a disaster, but I know all is not lost. I came back for the Cowboy Steak dinner for just $10.99! Salad is $2.50 more if you want. The meat is a half pound grilled patty cooked to your liking, smothered in grilled onions, mushrooms and green bell peppers all served with a wonderful brown gravy. I ordered the gravy on the side so I could drench my meat in as I liked. Choice of potatoes comes with it, I got fries. Veggies are actually good, and not food service over steamed like many casino coffee shops have. They were good! The price was sure right for what you get and I'll come back again to CVI Katie's Kitchen .... just stay away from that fried chicken on Sundays!
Had the fish and chips. Everything was hot, except the coleslaw. Everything tasted fresh. The staff was was very nice. It was nice and quiet while I was there.
We stopped at this point on our way to Reno tomorrow grab a bite and play a couple slots. The ad for prime rib for $29.99 was what called our attention. Unfortunately that deal was only for the weekend. We still went ahead and ordered. I ordered the chicken buffalo wrap and my fiancé ordered a tuna melt. They were okay. Not my choice of food, but they were pretty big I couldn't finish my wrap. The server was nice and kept checking on us. We probably won't stop by again in the future except for the slot machines. What I did notice was there were mainly older people, like retired or people that live around the area and that's their main place to go eat at.
In a small town there aren't many late night food options, but Katie's has always been a staple for the community. From post football game eats in high school to family dining, Katies has a place in everyone's story. Depending on the day, their food can be typical diner food or it can be a delicious 5 star meal, but last night was the best food andservice I've ever received there. JV was so thorough, kind, friendly, made sure our order was EXACTLY as we placed it and went above and beyond to ensure we had a nice meal. I hope we see her again there soon. We ordered the New York steak and a ham and cheese scramble. The steak was buttery, tender, and flavorful. I was impressed with how well it was cooked and the amount of flavor. The scramble was great too! The ambiance is your typical casino restaurant with the slight sound of slots in the background, but it is not smoky at all inside of the restaurant itself despite the casino being increasingly smokier each time I've been through lately.
This is your cozy diner inside a casino. The employees are nice & service is efficient. (There are those days that service is slower then usual due to them being slammed)... Food is decent, depending on your mood. From omelets, pancakes and sandwiches to entrees.. and such great prices! I come here at least once a week just miss that town feel where everyone knows your name.. without the big expense that most diners can't do.
